Scope and Objectives
The partners provide many years of experience in the appropriate fields of expertise and have all the requirements to achieve the project’s goals i.e.:
1. Enable the visitor to comprehend the site of the Eleusinian Mysteries, the most sacred and respected ancient Greek festival, through a uniform set of activities whose constituent parts function as stages of initiation; the visitor enters the site as an uninitiated and exits as an initiate.
2. Identify the logistical requirements and the design and development specifications of myEleusis and its subsystems, to lay the foundation for its future enrichment and sustainability.
3. Experimental development of myEleusis with the following subsystems:
a. myEleusis.AR: An application accessible both onsite and remotely, based on augmented reality technologies that will enable visitors to comprehend monuments that only partially survive. (AUGMENTED REALITY)
b. myEleusis.VM: A virtual museum to promote the actual archaeological museum through visual thematic exhibitions with dynamic content. (VIRTUAL MUSEUM)
c. myEleusis.Web: Enrich the archaeological site’s online presence through custom-made digital resources (3D/2D copies, narratives). (WEBSITE)
d. myEleusis.Map: Interactive digital map to assist in the comprehension of the site and to provide information through narrative for monuments scattered throughout the city of Eleusis. The map will be accessible online for those who live far away or have mobility limitations. During the visit to the archaeological site, guests will be able to use portable devices in outdoor areas. (INTERACTIVE MAPS).
e. myEleusis.Repo: A digital resource repository. Use before and after the visit: provide an experience that will serve as an invitation to the archaeological site and a consolidation tool. (DIGITAL REPOSITORY)
f. myEleusis.PS: Adoption of an approach based on storytelling through personalized interactive digital storytelling experiences. The content will be enriched with the use of innovative tools (e.g. 3D sound) and will be presented to the user on-demand or automatically through location technologies. (DIGITAL TOUR)
g. myEleusis.GA: Games for mobile devices; these games can be used on their own or become a part of the myEleusis.PS experience. Use during indoor visits to the archaeological museum. (GAMIFICATION)
h. myEleusis.SG: An educational app based on serious games technology that will speed up the comprehension of the cultural reserve. (EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES)
4. Transfer of technical know-how to the Ephorate and installation of the necessary equipment for the future use and expansion of these systems (exhibit enrichment, new narratives). myEleusis will enable visitors to learn the history, mythology, and religious festivals of ancient Eleusis. It will achieve this with new technologies and custom-made tour scripts (inspired by real events) that will adjust the available material depending on the target group of visitors.
Through these new and attractive promotion methods, the project will contribute to the wider region’s sustainable development.
